12th Nov – SUNDAY – Remembrance parade

7 Nov

REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE, SUNDAY 12 th NOVEMBER

Explorers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers should turn up at Burton Square / lower section of
Utkinton Road for 1010hrs. Please note that Utkinton Road will be closed off from Heatherways
to High Street at 1000hrs in readiness for the parade.
Explorers, scouts, cubs and beavers should be dressed in smart, full uniform. Black school
shoes, black/grey school trousers or skirts and a poppy should be worn. It’s a good idea to wear
something warm underneath the uniform top. A small sum of money for the collection is
advisable.

The parade will set off at 1020hrs and proceed to St Helen’s Church where a full service will be
held, followed by a short outdoor service by the cenotaph.
It is probably best to park in one of the village car parks and walk with your children to Utkinton
Road.

Always difficult to predict, but proceedings should be completed around 1200hrs. Please collect
your children from the entrance to the Church grounds on the High Street or at another point
agreed with your children.

Attendance by Cubs, Scouts and Explorers is regarded as obligatory but if your son / daughter is
unable to take part, for good reason, then please let the relevant section leader know. Parents
of Beavers should follow guidance from the Beaver Leaders.
Parents may of course join the service but should be aware that seating is very much in
demand! Get there early or be prepared to stand.

Please note that Utkinton and Cotebrook Parish Council is holding a fund-raising event for the Royal
British Legion at Rose Farm Coffee House (CW6 0LP) from 10.00 to 12.00 on Saturday, 11 th November. All
are welcome – coffee and cake will be served.

5th Nov – Bonfire night

3 Nov

After last year’s very successful display, when we had a record crowd and fantastic fireworks, our annual Bonfire & Fireworks night will be held on Sunday 5th November on the field to the south of the Lych Gate for St Helens Church (access past “Molly Mop”). The bonfire will be lit at 6.30 p.m. and the fireworks will be set off starting at 7.00 p.m. The “gates” will be open from 6.00 p.m. PLEASE DO NOT BRING SPARKLERS AS THE SPENT METAL WIRES CAN SEVERELY DAMAGE SHEEP.

This year we will be selling sweets, refreshments, and mulled wine. Entrance fee is £8.00 per adult, £4.00 per child (age 2 to 16). Payment may be by either card or cash.
