27th June – Canoeing switch round

This week the troop is split in to two for switching the canoeing groups round.

You will have an email detailing which group your scout is in.

Younger scouts will be at the hut 7:00-8:30pm.

Older scouts will be canoeing in Winsford 7:00-8:30pm

20th June – Worm charming

Normal Night at the hut 7-8:30pm.

Don’t forget to bring your camp letters in to get your place on camp.

With the Worm charming world championships taking place in one of our leaders home town this Saturday……….On Tuesday Night we will be partaking in the sport of Worm Charming.

The scouts will be competing in patrols and will be provided with a garden fork. If they wish to bring any other items to support in their charming in line with the below rules they can do.

We will be following the rules as set out by the International Federation of Charming Worms and Allied Pastimes (IFCWAP).

  • Each competitor to operate in a 3 x 3 metre plot.
  • Lots to be drawn to allocate plots.
  • Duration of competition to be 30 minutes.
  • Worms may not be dug from the ground. Vibrations only to be used.
  • No drugs to be used! Water is considered to be a drug/stimulant.
  • Any form of music may be used to charm the worms out of the earth.
  • A garden fork of normal type may be stuck into the ground and vibrated by any manual means to encourage worms to the surface.
  • A piece of wood, smooth or notched may be used to strike or ‘fiddle’ the handle of the garden fork to assist vibration.
  • Competitors who do not wish to handle worms may appoint a second to do so. The second shall be known as a ‘Gillie’.
  • Each competitor may collect worms from his/her own plot only.
  • Worms to be handled carefully and collected in damp peat and placed in a suitable, named container.
  • A handbell to be rung about five minutes before the start of the competition – Competitors to keep clear of competition plots until given the instruction “Get to your Plots” – The competitor who ‘charms’ the most worms to be the winner.
  • In the event of a tie, the winner to be decided by a further five minutes charming – Charmed worms to be released after the birds have gone to roost on the evening of the event.

14th June – NOT on Tue, Not at hut

Different time and place this week.

Scouts will be on WEDNESDAY (14th) and NOT tue this week for a one off.

Scouts on Wednesday will be 6:30-8:00pm.

Scouts will be at the Warhammer shop in chester (57 Watergate St, Chester, ch12lb).

6th June – Half at hut, half in Winsford – Check your emails!

This week the troop is split up and you will have an email explaining where your scout needs to be.

The Older scouts will be at the hut like normal 7-8:30.

The younger scouts are split into two and will be canoeing in Winsford 7-8 or 8-9. Please check your email for drop off, clothes and times for your scout.
