25th nov – PL’s Night

21 Nov

Normal night at the hut 7-9pm.

The PL’s and APL’s are going to run the night this week. Can each PL/APL please think of a game (not the usual ones we always play) and a challenge for the troop. The challenge could be a 20 question quiz or a physical challenge or teach the troop a skill or talent (doesn’t have to be scout related) or a detailed run down (with props) of their main hobby etc etc. If you need to bring anything with you please do. Ideally we would like something to keep the troop occupied for around 15 mins for the challenge aspect.

If your a PL or APL and cant make this week can you please leave a comment on this post letting us know. Thanks.

If you havn’t handed back to the leaders your contact detail form can you please bring it this week. If your details havn’t changed recently can you still fill it in and bring it in. we are using these forms for the new contact detail system upgrade.

11th Nov – Video night

9 Nov

Normal night 7-9pm.

A big thank you to the scouts that attended parade on Sunday.

Unfortunately as a leader team we were pretty disappointed at the attendance to remembrance parade. We didn’t get enough apologies for the amount of people that missed parade. This parade is a big event on the scout and community calendar and we expect a bigger attendance next year.

4th – Cooking

2 Nov

We are cooking this week and its a normal night this week 7-9pm.

Please read the details below for info on Remembrance parade and bonfire night.

Explorers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers should turn up at the British Legion car park at 10.00 a.m. dressed in smart, full uniform. Black school shoes, black/grey school trousers and a poppy should be worn. A small sum of money for the collection is advisable. Beavers will not attend the church service and will leave the parade at the church entrance at around 10.40 a.m. Parents should collect their Beavers from there. Always difficult to predict precisely but proceedings should be over by 12.15 p.m. at the British Legion car park.

Attendance is regarded as obligatory but if your son / daughter is unable to take part, for good reason, then please let the relevant section leader know.

Our annual Bonfire & Fireworks night will be held on Saturday 8th rear of the Crown Hotel (perhaps better known as Etc). The bonfire will be lit at 6.30 p.m. and the fireworks will be set off starting at 7.00 p.m. The “gates” will be open from 6.00 p.m. This year we will be selling light-sticks, sweets, some refreshments and mulled wine. Etc and will be selling pizza slices, other Italian type food and alcoholic drinks in the marquee. Etc. will be keeping their profits from this which is their return for providing the field for our use. Entrance fee is £5.00 per adult, £2.50 per child (age 2 to 16) and free for explorers/scouts/cubs/beaverswho help us to prepare the bonfire.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We would be really grateful if parents and/or explorers/scouts/cubs could help us build the bonfire, put up the marquee, etc. on Saturday morning 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. and/or make good the field on the following Sunday 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. Many hands make light work. Old clothes, a spade (and a rake on the Sunday) and gloves are a must.

If you have a wheel-barrow then please bring it along!
