22nd Oct – No Scouts

21 Oct

No scouts this week as it is half term.

See you next week

13 Oct

Hello,

Normal night at the hut this week 7-9pm uniform as normal.

Please Read the information below from the Tarporley scout exec team:

Dear Parents,

At our recent AGM only three parents attended who were not connected in some way with the

leader teams. Fortunately they were all nominated for and accepted roles on the Executive as

follows:

Chairman: Catharine Line

Treasurer: Jennifer Dorsett

Secretary: Susie Strachan

We wish them all the best in these roles and we are sure they will do well. Gill Stitt (ex

Treasurer) and Liza Roberts (ex Secretary) were thanked for their sterling efforts over the last

five or more years. As a penalty for their efforts Gill had prepared the accounts for the AGM

and Liza has to type the Minutes!

Jennifer has had to pay two large bills recently and our current account is now only just in the

black. We therefore need your help in supporting the activities below as hopefully they will

bring in much needed funds and you will enjoy them (oh yes, you will enjoy them)! If you can

also help in supporting the activities with raffle prizes, making cakes, taking tickets on the door,

etc. then that would be great. Just speak to any of the above ladies or contact me.

Please note that if our funding situation does not improve then we may have to raise

subscriptions from £2.50 to £3.00 next term.

BEETLE DRIVE, SATURDAY, 19TH OCTOBER

The Executive has organised a Beetle Drive at the Scout Hut starting at 6.00 p.m. – great fun

for all the family! Cost will be £5.00 per adult, £4.00 per child and will include a pie and peas

supper. Tickets can be booked through Jennifer Dorsett on tel. 01829 730751.

BONFIRE & FIREWORKS NIGHT, SUNDAY 3RD NOVEMBER

Our annual Bonfire & Fireworks night will be held on Sunday 3rd

rear of the Crown Hotel (now called Etc). The bonfire will be lit at 6.30 p.m. and the fireworks

will be set off starting at 7.00 p.m. The “gates” will be open from 6.00 p.m.

This year there will be refreshments and mulled wine. Etc will be selling pizza slices in the

marquee. Light-sticks will also be for sale. Entrance fee is £4.00 per adult, £2.00 per child (age 2

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We would be really grateful if parents could help us build the bonfire on

Sunday morning 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. and/or make good the field on the following Saturday

REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE, SUNDAY 10TH NOVEMBER

Explorers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers should turn up at the British Legion car park at 10.00

a.m. dressed in smart, full uniform. Black school shoes, black/grey school trousers and a

poppy should be worn. A small sum of money for the collection is advisable. Beavers will not

attend the church service and will leave the parade at the church entrance at around 10.40

a.m. Parents should collect their Beavers from there. Always difficult to predict precisely but

proceedings should be over by 12.15 p.m. at the British Legion car park.

Attendance is regarded as obligatory but if your son / daughter is unable to take part, for good

reason, then please let the relevant section leader know.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN LIVERPOOL, SATURDAY 23RD NOVEMBER

The Executive has organised another trip to Liverpool following last year’s highly successful

invasion of our nearest large city. Blokes are invited too! We will be leaving the Community

Centre, Tarporley at 8.30 a.m., Kelsall at 8.45 a.m. and returning at 5.30 p.m. and costing only

£10. There are still tickets available so why not make the most of this great offer, drum up

support from friends and relatives and contact Jennifer Dorsett (01829 730751) for tickets.

BURNS NIGHT, SATURDAY 25TH JANUARY 2014

Once again the excellent Crofters will be entertaining us for a rowdy evening of Scottish dancing

(well attempt at dancing), music, food and drink at the Community Centre. Cost will be £15 per

person. Watch this space for more details.

8th Oct – Wide game (change to program)

6 Oct

Hello,

To follow on from the other week’s change to program this week we have a wide game instead of cooking.

Wide game will be normal time 7-9pm, WILL NOT BE AT THE HUT and uniform is not to be worn.

Please drop your scout off at the location in Peckforton shown below. Scouts will be outside what ever the weather (please suitably dress them in waterproof, warm coats etc) and will probably end up getting muddy so don’t wear uniform. Your scout is advised to bring a torch.

The small lane where you drop your scout off is very narrow and can get congested with alot of cars about so please be aware.
