Local Camp Itinery . (No scouts on 28th half term)

26 May

Hello Every one,

Please see at the end of this post the Itinery for the Local Camp to be held next weekend.

We would encourage all scouts to stay the full weekend but if this is not possible we encourage the scout to attend for just for the day Saturday and/or Sunday. As you will be able to see from the itinery below we will use the “local Camp” to achieve quite a few badges.

I will email every parent ( I have an email address for) the itinerary.

Can you reply in the comments or via email ( 1sttarporleyscouts@gmail.com) wether your scout wants to attend the full weekend or just attend on either/both days by WEDNESDAY. If I receive no reply i will presume that scout isn’t going. I must stress that we would we would love it for all the scouts to attend that can and there is no cost for this “local Camp”.

Spring Camp Cancalation

22 May

Its with great reluctance i have to announce that due to dwindling numbers Spring Camp will have to be cancelled. We can not financially run the camp with the number we have.

The leader team have been working on ways to keep the camp in Windermear going but we just cant do it. The two camps we (the leader team) run a year are in our views the best part of scouting and we hope for summer camp and camps in the future we can make them work.

In the interest of keeping something going the leader team are going to run a “local camp” from the hut over the same weekend (stay night in the hut Friday and Saturday night and do activities Saturday and Sunday). The itinery for this “local camp” will be released on the web site and email over this coming weekend. We still plan to do Hill walking and outdoor activities but unfortunately these will only be in the local area, not some where “new and exciting” as had planned originally.

In an effort to try and get more scouts to participate they can either join us for the full event Friday night to Sunday afternoon or just for the days on Saturday and/or Sunday. we will start and finish the activities from the hut.

The money paid for camp will be refunded (our scout treasurer is on holiday for a couple of weeks so please bare with us) and the “local camp” will be run for free.

The leader team can only insist that we would love for as many scouts to participate on this “local camp” either full weekend or “day visits” as we are now lacking a “proper spring camp”.

An Up dated itinery will be posted on the website and email. I will contact parent via phone over the bank holiday weekend, until then please comment or email 1sttarporleyscouts@gmail.com your questions.
